Design and Portability

The Ooni Fyra pizza oven is designed with a sleek and modern aesthetic, featuring a cylindrical shape with a powder-coated carbon steel body. It weighs only 10 kg, making it extremely lightweight and portable. The compact design of the Ooni Fyra makes it easy to carry and transport, making it a great option for those who love to take their pizza oven on camping trips or outdoor adventures.
The same counts for the Ooni Karu 12 pizza oven, at 12kgs this one is also portable, but it is slightly larger and heavier compared to the Ooni Fyra.
The Ooni Karu 16 features a rectangular shape with a stainless steel body and weighs around 28kgs, so it would be better suited for those who plan to use it in a fixed location, such as in their backyard or patio. It also features a see through door and a mounted digital thermometer so you can keep a close eye on both your pizza and the temperature.

Fuel Type

One of the key differences between the Ooni Fyra and the Ooni Karu is the type of fuel they use. The Ooni Fyra is a wood pellet-powered pizza oven, which means it uses wood pellets as its primary source of fuel. Cooking Performance

Both the Ooni Fyra and the Ooni Karu are known for their excellent cooking performance and ability to reach high temperatures for quick and crispy pizzas. However, there are slight differences in their cooking capabilities. All three of them heat up within 15 minuted to 500°C though fuel consumption is higher for both Karu sizes compared to the Ooni Fyra.
They all feature a stone baking board that helps to create that perfect wood-fired crust, and its wood pellet fuel adds a unique smoky flavour to the pizzas. The stone for both Karu's is slightly higher than the Fyra. The thicker the stone, the more heat it will retain, and the better heat distribution will be.

 

Cooking Surface

The Ooni Fyra and Karu 12 both have a 33cm x 33cm pizza stone. This provides ample space to cook pizzas that are up to 12 inches in size, whereas the Karu 16 features a rectangular cooking surface that measures 62 x 42cm. This larger  cooking area allows you to cook pizzas that are up to 16 inches in size. The rectangular shape of the cooking surface also gives you the flexibility to cook other types of food, such as flatbreads or vegetables, alongside your pizzas.

  • Infrared Thermometer: Know exactly when your pizza stone is ready to cook the perfect base. The Ooni Infrared Thermometer with laser pointer will allow you to measure the surface temperature of your Ooni within seconds.
    For the most accurate reading, simply aim the laser guide to the middle of your pizza stone and the reading will appear on the display screen. Aim for around 400°C for the perfect pizza that cooks in 60 seconds.
