Cast iron is incredibly durable and easy to care for. But like all family members, sometimes it needs a little extra TLC.

The Ironclad Care Kit is designed to give you all the tools and tips you need to keep your cast iron in top condition. Because with the right care, your Ironclad Cookware will only get better with age.

Included in the box is our Conditioning Balm for seasoning, a Wooden Spatula for cleaning, a Bamboo Scrubbing Brush for, well, scrubbing, an Organic Cotton Cloth for applying the balm, and a recommended cleaning process guide.

CONDITIONING BALM Made in Makarau by our friends at Wild and Free, our conditioning balm contains a blend of locally sourced kawakawa, beeswax and grapeseed oil. Best stored in a cool, dry place away from direct light or heat.

WOODEN SPATULA
Handmade by an artisan woodworker based in the Coromandel, these wooden spatulas feature a perfectly angled edge for cleaning, an ergonomic handle and are made from native rimu which is collected from a local family owned forest. No trees were felled in the process.

ORGANIC COTTON CLOTH
These lovely organic black cotton cloths were sourced by our friends at Waste Free Home. The fabric comes from a mill in Melbourne and is hand sewn with 100% cotton thread, here in Aotearoa.

BAMBOO SCRUBBING BRUSH These eco-friendly bamboo scrubbing brushes are made with short, coarse bristles thats are great for cleaning cast iron.

After every meal, simply wipe out your pan using a clean cloth or paper towel. No soap needed.

If necessary, rinse with hot water and use the bamboo scrubbing brush to clean.

If any bits of food stick around, pour water into your cast iron cookware, bring to the boil and use the wooden spatula to dislodge them.

The wooden tool won't damage the patina, so you can confidently scrape away. After you've got them all, rinse and dry thoroughly.

Now it's clean and dry, warm on the stove top. Apply 1/4 teaspoon of the conditioning balm, and use the organic cotton cloth to spread evenly over the entire surface.

Never leave to drip dry and always lightly re-condition or re-oil with your chosen seasoning before storing.
